I had an extended weekend so I thought let's finish the old Arcade Cabinet I started last year. Many of my older projects was finished extremely fast as I needed the machines ready... No more of that though, I finally have the time and resources to do it right from the beginning.
A while ago I build a very nice stand for my HTC Vive, and it looked great. I used several days on painting and sanding which was a very rewarding experience. I'm going to de the same with this cabinet.
Here's a nice picture, the cabinet is assembled and all holes have been filled up with putty.
Next step sanding the machine down with increasingly finer sandpaper and then priming it. We have has such great weather so I did all of this outside, fantastic.
Next step apply the first layer of black paint, wait for it to dry, sand it, apply next layer and repeat the process three to four times before it's finished off with two layers of varnish. This old cabinet was a bit tricky to work with as I had used some cheap wood when I started the project, so it was difficult getting a smooth surface everywhere.
Painted and all of the t-molding is mounted. Beginning to look good :)
Preparing all of the details. Gold spray paint and several layers of varnish to ensure durability.
The coinmech and a small drawer for all of the coins. I have to replace the lock with one in gold of course.
Changing lights added to the interior of the machine, showing from the bottom, sides, front and the top. This took a long time to make and a lot of soldering.
This is how far I got with the machine during the weekend. Unfortunately our waterpump broke down today so I kind of had change my plans and fix that instead of my arcade cabinet :( No worries though, I'll have this machine finished before next weekend. And I'm planning a contest in our gaming club on Thursday.
